Abstract
This paper explores our experience as fourth-year students writing our first academic research paper. It reflects on the main stages of academic writing – topic selection, planning, drafting, revising, and editing – and discusses the challenges encountered along the way and the strategies used to overcome them. The goal is to demystify the idea of the research paper as a thesis-like production and present it instead as a formative and accessible first approach to academic writing. By fostering reflection and participation, this session aims to encourage future writers to view the writing process as a meaningful experience of learning and growth.
Keywords: academic writing, research paper, writing process, reflection, student experience, teacher education, academic literacy.
